(NEWYORK) (June 12, 2016) New Hampshire GOP congressional candidate Andy Martin has left the campaign trail for a few days to open an independent investigation into the terrorist attack in Orlando. Today Andy is the first congressional candidate to make an openly political argument, that voting for Hillary Clinton will continue Barack Obama’s flaccid counterterror activities and that only by electing Donald Trump and a GOP Congress can we “Make America Safe Again.”

 

“It is laughable that Democrats are already trying to spin the Orlando massacre as a ‘hate crime’” Andy says. “Sadly, there are haters in every nation and every culture. We know that. But haters do not arm themselves, select a gay club and commit a massacre as a statement of sexuality. The suggestion that Omar Mateen was not linked to terrorism is laughable.

 

“I was in Afghanistan and I was close to the Afghan émigré community in America. Afghans are not violent people. It is only the extremist ISIS and Taliban converts who manifest a propensity to terrorism and mass murder.

 

“I know there will be some that are irritated that I am taking a clearly partisan position this early in the investigation. But my views are based on decades of counterterror experience and a long familiarity with Afghans in the United States.

 

“Let me be clear: a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue the ineffective national security policies and programs of President Barack Obama.

 

“Only Donald Trump and a solid GOP majority in Congress can ‘Make America Safe Again.’ It was just a few months ago we had the San Bernardino massacre. Now we have an even worse domestic terrorism attack. There will be more.

 

“Yet Obama and some misguided Republicans have tried to restrict the powers of our intelligence agencies. Obama has watered down FBI training manuals with pro-Islamist propaganda and infiltrated government agencies with an Islamist ‘fifth column.’ He has tried to make ‘profiling’ toxic, when profiling has been part of law enforcement protocols since the dawn of organized policing.

 

“I know there are many Americans who are concerned with Donald’s occasionally loose rhetoric. However uncomfortable some Americans may be with a Trump presidency, only with Trump as president and supported by a GOP majority in Congress can we begin to genuinely fight a war against terrorism. If I am sent to Congress I will keep Donald on the straight and narrow. But, most importantly, I will energize a GOP caucus to focus on vastly expanding our counterterrorism efforts both here at home and overseas.

 

“We are living in an age of absurdity. A few days ago we celebrated the anniversary of D-Day. With only primitive tools of war and communications methods the entire American people mobilized to defeat Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in four years. If Obama had been president, we would still be fighting World War II. Obama has allowed a terrorist ‘capital’ in Raqqa to openly operate for years. The liberation of Mosul? Indefinitely postponed. Under Obama/Clinton we face a lifetime of endangerment because of insufficient resources being devoted to eliminating, not containing, the terrorists.

 

“Let me clear: when America refuses to ‘fight smart’ abroad, we endanger ourselves here at home. The ‘leftovers’ of Obama’s failed policies will continue to haunt this nation. Hillary’s ‘incremental’ approach to government and leadership is doomed to failure. Only if Republicans take control of the federal government and undo Obama’s damage can we begin to make this nation safe again.

 

“I ask people to put aside their reservations about Trump. Those of us who know him will ensure he obeys the law and acts appropriately in office. But only with a president wholeheartedly committed to fighting global terror can we be certain that some day this nation will be safe again.

 

“I am adopting the slogan ‘Make America Safe Again’ to highlight what is at stake in the presidential and congressional elections. It is not Clinton’s ‘glass ceiling’ or Trump’s occasional missteps. This election is about one issue and one issue alone: national security. Without national security you can forget about the economy, forget about educational reform, and forget about everything else. A nation that is not safe has no future. A world that is left to collapse into chaos will eventually endanger us right in downtown Orlando. It just did.

 

“There really is no choice at all in November: Trump and the GOP or continuing chaos at home and around the world. Obama will leave bitter fruit behind when he leaves the White House. Clinton has promised to continue Obama’s incremental policies, and she will. Hillary and Bill’s focus and concentration are on self-enrichment, not making America safe again. A vote for Hillary is a vote to allow terrorism to flourish everywhere and to continue to fester and endanger the national security of the United States.”

 

When Andy returns to New Hampshire in a few days he plans to contact local mosques and open outreach to the Muslim community. “Our Muslim neighbors are our friends,” Andy says. “Almost all of them are our potential allies. My door will always be open to the peaceful adherents of Islam. Everyone who loves America has a right to live in peace. The peaceful adherents of every religion and every lifestyle are entitled to constitutional protection. No one should live in fear. I want the terrorists to live in fear, that we are going to get them; not loyal Americans.”
